I grew up on a 40 acre hobby farm in central Minnesota, was involved in raising horses, enjoyed trail rides, and was active in high school sports. After graduating with honors from high school in 1988, I joined the military and spent almost 4 years in the U. S. Army Military Intelligence Corp., then 3 years in the MN National Guard. My father who had a PHD in Zoology and was a biology professor at St. Cloud State University for 32 years played in integral role in my strong interest in biology, anatomy and medicine.
I graduated with honors from the Associate of Applied Veterinary Technology program at the Medical Institute of Minnesota and worked as a certified vet tech for over 5 years until I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in 1998. I majored in biology and had a minor in chemistry. I taught several Veterinary Technology program classes at the Minnesota School of Business and the Medical Institute of Minnesota as an adjunct instructor
Having a history of frequent headaches for over 20 years contributed to my interest in natural health care taking over my interest in being a Veterinarian. I began the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Northwestern Health Sciences University in September 2001 and graduated Magna Cum Laude in April 2005. Shortly after graduation I became certified to perform acupuncture.
My interests as a Doctor of Chiropractic are in caring for the whole person, to include headaches, back and neck pain, injury care and all of the typical issues that bring people in to our clinic, but I also feel that addressing nutrition, strengthening, proper posture, mental/emotional health, and living a health life style is extremely important.
Chiropractic care as part of a larger movement towards increasing access to alternative and natural health care is the medicine of the future. I feel that it is important to educate my patients how to heal and how to become healthier, and I strive to fulfill that plan with each patient at each visit.

Hello Everyone. My name Jo G. Theisen, DC I own and operate Family Chiropractic Health Service of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. My associate, Barbara Knutson, DC and I have a combined 27 years of practice. Over the years we have worked diligently, educating folks on getting healthy and staying that way. We teach patients about the body’s amazing recuperative power and the role spinal care plays in that process.
Care is not so much something done to patients as it is something experienced with our patients. We strive to help you enjoy an active independent lifestyle. From head to toe we have helped resolve common issues including hip, back, neck, shoulder, headaches and arm pain. We count grandparents, their kids and their grand kids among our cherished patients. We teach fun, useful ways to keep you active through Community Education programs in the Osseo and Anoka-Hennepin school districts. And we try to give back to our profession as adjunct faculty of Northwestern Health Science University offering clinical field training for chiropractic interns.
I am married, have two sons in college, a dog and two cats.
If you have a reason for staying mobile, active and feeling good, come see if we could help you.
